William Harold Rightmyer

William Harold Rightmyer, 86, of Littleton, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Halifax County, NC, he was the son of the late Frank Martin Rightmyer, Sr. and Mattie Louise Threewitts Rightmyer. William was preceded in death by his son, William "Billy" Harold Rightmyer, Jr.; his brothers, Frank Rightmyer, Jr., George "Buck" Rightmyer; his sister, Lois Medlin; and his dog and best friend, Trouble.

William served his country in the U.S. Army, and was retired as the owner of Rightmyer Machine Rentals after operating it from 1956 until 2001, up until his sons took over running the business. He remained with the business as a consultant. William also was on the Board of Trustees at RBC Centura, and was one of the Founders and Trustees at Halifax Academy.

William is survived by his wife, Peggy Joan Rightmyer of Littleton; his sons, John Rightmyer and his wife, Dorothy, of Littleton, Eddie Rightmyer and his wife, Deen, of Littleton; his daughters, Vicki Augustitus and her husband, Paul, of Wilson, Jo Anne Gronstal and her husband, Dan, of Houston, TX; his sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, and lots of loving nieces and nephews; his sisters, Margaret Ann Carter of Goldsboro, Louise Shipley and her husband, Lyman, of Roanoke Rapids; his sisters-in-law, Betty Rightmyer of Roanoke Rapids, and Debbie Stewart and her husband, Dennis, of Littleton.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, with Rev. Jimmy King officiating.

Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
